Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
Grechetto is described as Umbria’s principal native white variety. It is commonly blended around Orvieto but also grown as a varietal wine in the Colli Martani, part of which lies within Montefalco.
Grapes
100% Grechetto.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in the third week of September. They undergo soft pressing and cold static clarification before fermentation in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
Maturation takes place in stainless steel on the lees, followed by time in bottle.
Technical data
Montefalco DOC. The 2024 vintage has 13.5% alcohol. Available in 375 ml and 750 ml bottles.
Tasting profile
Straw yellow. The elegant, fresh nose combines fruit and flowers, with citrus, peach, almond and hawthorn blossom. The palate has good structure and pleasant freshness.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 12°C. Pair with seafood appetisers, salami, fresh cheeses, first courses, pulse and cereal soups, savoury pies or fish dishes. The Italian presentation gives an optimal drinking period of 3–4 years from harvest.
Vintage notes
The 2024 season featured a rainy spring that delayed phenological development. Summer remained relatively cool until mid-August; warmer, dry conditions then continued into mid-October, enabling the grapes to reach optimal ripeness.
