Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The Sagrantino fruit is grown in the Montefalco area at 200–300 metres above sea level.

Vinification

Harvest runs from the final ten days of September into early October. The grapes are collected in small crates to prevent crushing. Maceration lasts 26–28 days at temperatures not exceeding 30 °C.

Ageing

The wine matures for up to 24 months in French oak barrels, followed by 6 months in bottle.

Tasting profile

The 2001 vintage is stylish, powerful and rich.

Label / history

Each bottle bears a numbered seal around its neck, indicating that the wine has been tasted and approved by state-licensed experts and complies with the applicable standards.

The Caprai family comes from Montefalco in Umbria. Textile entrepreneur Arnaldo Caprai bought the Val di Maggio estate in 1971 and began cultivating Sagrantino. His son, Marco Caprai, subsequently took over the winemaking, combining local tradition with research, experimentation and innovative methods.
