Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

100% Barbera from estate-owned hillside vineyards at Rocchetta Tanaro.

Vinification

Skin maceration takes place at controlled temperature for 20 days.

Ageing

The wine matures for 12 months in oak barriques, followed by a further year in bottle.

Tasting profile

Very intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The rich, complex and concentrated nose features red fruit and small berries over nuances of minty spice, vanilla and liquorice. Generous and full-bodied, the palate has substantial structure, softness and a very long aromatic persistence, integrating the character of Barbera with the contribution of oak.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 17–18 °C. Pair with substantial meat dishes, roasts—including preparations with sauces—and mature cheeses.

Label / history

“L’Uccellone” was the village nickname of a woman who lived on the vineyard hill. Her nose recalled a bird’s beak and she always dressed in black, inspiring the name Bricco dell’Uccellone.
