Questo vino

Vineyard and terroir

The wine is made exclusively from Barbera grown in estate vineyards at Castelnuovo Calcea.

Grapes

100% Barbera.

Vinification

Maceration on the skins lasts 20 days.

Ageing

The wine matures for 15 months in barriques, followed by another year in bottle.

Tasting profile

Ruby to garnet red with violet reflections. The rich, intense and persistent bouquet is well developed, with liquorice, violet, plum and vanilla. Fruit is joined on the palate by roasted and assertively spicy notes. Ripe plum is wrapped in spice, creating a balanced, vigorous and intense expression with breadth and power.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 17–18°C. Pair with roasted meats, game, wild game and hard cheeses. Available in 0.75 L, 1.5 L and 3 L formats.

Label / history

The name refers to a devout woman who lived beside the Barbera vineyard. She carefully observed religion’s outward practices and rules; the Bologna family says that they supplied its spirit.
