Vineyard and terroir

100% Barbera grown exclusively on the San Bernardo hill at Rocchetta Tanaro, on the historic property long cared for by the Curej family. The vineyard has an average planting density of 5,000 vines per hectare.

Vinification

The wine undergoes 15 days of skin maceration.

Ageing

Maturation lasts three months in large oak casks.

Tasting profile

Bright violet-ruby red. The broad, expressive nose combines fruit and flowers, led by fresh blackberry and cherry, wisteria, sweet tobacco and liquorice. The palate is full, dry, savoury and fresh, with balanced spicy, fruity and floral notes.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18 °C.

Label / history

The name Curej comes from cureja, meaning a trouser belt or the long drive belt once used in grain-threshing machines. Curej is also the nickname of the family that has traditionally looked after this historic property.
