Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from 18 estate plots in Franciacorta, in the province of Brescia. The vines are more than 30 years old on average and grow in a distinctive local microclimate. Planting density is higher than is traditional in the area. Vineyard practices include green harvesting and a gradual move away from inorganic fertilizers, measures intended to improve grape quality.

Vinification

Harvest takes place in early September. Each variety is fermented separately under controlled temperatures, using both stainless-steel tanks and small oak barriques. The must undergoes eight months of débourbage, during which sediment is allowed to settle. After blending, secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle according to the méthode champenoise.

Ageing

After secondary fermentation, the wine rests on its lees for more than four years in cellars maintained at no more than 12 °C.

Label / history

Ca’ del Bosco began operating in 1968. Its origins date to 1965, when Annamaria Clementi Zanella moved to Franciacorta and settled in a large house surrounded by woodland. Her son, Maurizio Zanella, later played an important role in the estate’s development.
