Storia
1998
Caiarossa was founded, cultivating its vineyards organically and incorporating the principles of geodynamics and feng shui into the design of its cellars.
2004
The estate was acquired by Eric Albada Jelgersma, who brought many years of experience from the Bordeaux estates Château Giscours and Château du Tertre, guiding Caiarossa into the world of fine wine.
Terroir
The vineyards lie near the Tuscan coast in Val di Cecina, in the southern part of the province of Pisa, on the southern slopes of Poggio di Nocola, at almost 600 metres above sea level. The estate's soil contains vivid red jasper, stones and pebbles, an element reflected in the estate's name.
Vinificazione
The vineyards are cultivated organically.
The cellars were designed incorporating the principles of geodynamics and feng shui.
Filosofia
Caiarossa's company logo, an ancient Etruscan clay head depicting Dionysus, the Greek god of plants and wine, is said to reflect Caiarossa's vision of its wines perfectly. The estate's name pays tribute to the red jasper, stones and pebbles found in its soil, and is also a creative reference to Gaia, mother of the gods of Mount Olympus and goddess of fertility, nature and the Earth.
