Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo is grown using biodynamic and organic methods. The wine brings together two sides of the Barolo denomination: the softer character typical of the western part of the region and the more austere character associated with east-facing land.
Vinification
Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures for 15–20 days, with daily pump-overs.
Ageing
The wine is aged for at least 18 months in oak barrels, followed by 22 months in bottle after bottling. The 2021 vintage is best enjoyed after 2028 and should remain at peak maturity through 2042.
Tasting profile
Substantial, surprisingly full-bodied and structured. Complex, rich and bold, it shows its own personality while young and is built to develop with age. The aim is a harmonious expression that conveys balance and integration.
Label / history
The idea behind Ceretto's Barolo is to bring different nuances together in a single expression rather than placing the character of one vineyard above a broader vision, as the most classic producers traditionally did.
The Ceretto family began making wine in the 1930s, when Riccardo Ceretto moved to Alba. In the 1960s his sons Bruno and Marcello continued the work with a different philosophy shaped by a new era. They devoted their lives to promoting Barolo and are often known as the "Barolo Brothers." Today the family, now in its third generation, owns nine estates producing around 700,000 bottles a year, with more than 80 hectares of vineyards in total. Each estate has its own style and approach to production.
