Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from 70 ha of vineyards in Vezza d'Alba and Castellinaldo, at elevations of approximately 210–290 m. The sites face south, southwest and southeast and have a planting density of 4,300 vines/ha. The soils comprise 51% clay, 31% silt deposits and 18% sand. The vines were planted in 1982, 1987 and 1996.

Vinification

The wine is made in stainless-steel tanks at low temperature using cryo-extraction, with automated systems controlling each stage. Carbon dioxide produced during fermentation helps balance the grape's naturally low acidity.

Ageing

It rests briefly in stainless-steel tanks.

Tasting profile

Refreshing and fruity.

Label / history

First released in 1985, Blangé is produced in quantities exceeding 600,000 bottles annually. Its name recalls a French bakery, or “boulangerie,” that once occupied the vineyard site and baked fresh, fragrant bread. Italian artist Silvio Coppola designed the label.

The Blangé winery was founded in 1985, when the first vineyard planted with Arneis was purchased. The Ceretto family subsequently acquired vineyards in Vezza d'Alba; the winery had been fully equipped for production by 1987, and further vineyards were purchased in Castellinaldo in 1996.
