King Berengar II of Italy gave Count Rambaldo, an ancestor of the Collalto family, the Montello forest and the county of Curtis di Lovadina, a wide plain of meadows, pastures and vineyards at the foot of the Treviso hills. This grant marks the origin of the Collalto family's history, making it one of Italy's oldest wineries.

Count Ottaviano Antonio Collalto built the winery's historic cellar, which has since been carefully modernized and fitted with up-to-date equipment.

Princess Isabella Collalto de Croÿ, heir to the estate, has personally managed the Conte Collalto winery since 2007 and the San Salvatore Castle since 2018.
Terroir
The estate lies at the foot of the Susegana and Conegliano hills, an area that became the historic heart of the Prosecco wine region. The Conegliano hills are officially listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The family makes use of the area's fertile soils. The 164 ha of vineyards fall within the Prosecco Superiore DOCG area. The historic San Salvatore Castle, a sacred fortress that historically protected the surrounding land, stands as a landmark of the estate.
Vinificazione
The family works to maintain the natural balance of the land, improve its agricultural and landscape qualities, and explore new ways to improve harvest quality. The company strictly follows the winegrowing rules set by the municipalities belonging to the Prosecco Superiore Consortium, helping to keep environmental impact to a minimum. In recognition of this work to protect the area and support environmental sustainability, Conte Collalto received the title of "Eco-Friendly Winery" at the Merano WineFestival.
The historic cellar was built in 1904 by Count Ottaviano Antonio Collalto. It has since been carefully modernized and fitted with up-to-date equipment. Automation has streamlined and improved the cellar's workflow, allowing the winery to produce the volumes needed to meet growing demand in a quality-focused market.
