Storia
Fratelli Lomazzi
Dante Lomazzi's company, then known as Fratelli Lomazzi, bought a small warehouse in the port of Milazzo. Wine was made and stored there in barrels while awaiting shipment by sea to Genoa.
1919
In the postwar period, Carlo and Giovanni joined the family business. The business later expanded, and cousins of the Lomazzi family also became involved in winemaking. The family decided to change the company's name, and Fratelli Lomazzi became Vinicola Lomazzi.
Eve of the Second World War
The company had premises in the province of Modena, in the Emilia region, where it made table wines and blends.
The 1950s
The decade brought growth and success, and Vinicola Lomazzi became one of Italy's best-known wholesale wine companies and a supplier to the country's largest wine producers.
The 1970s
Piero Lomazzi took over the business. He began transforming and diversifying the company and bought a small winery in Siena that produced Chianti and white wine.
Today
Colombaia is run by Dante Lomazzi, a member of the family's fourth generation.
