Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Gualdo Cattaneo in the province of Perugia. The wine is intended to express the Montefalco territory in an approachable, versatile style.
Grapes
Sangiovese, Sagrantino and Merlot. Sangiovese provides the foundation of the blend.
Vinification
Fermentation and maceration take place at a controlled 24–28 °C, with daily pumping over and délestage. After racking, the wine moves to stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
Maturation in stainless steel is followed by several months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Full and enveloping, with rounded texture. Firm tannins provide strength and character, while freshness, acidity and softness define the intended style.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18 °C in a medium-sized glass. Pair with grilled or roasted white and red meats. Its freshness also suits an aperitif, and the wine can accompany an entire meal.
Label / history
Rather than treating Montefalco Rosso as a lesser counterpart to Sagrantino, Còlpetrone has produced it from the estate's earliest years as an expression of the appellation's versatility. The blend is shaped around freshness and acidity balanced by softness and regional character.
