Storia
2021 — First Derthona vintage
Tenuta Garetto released the first vintage of its Derthona Colli Tortonesi DOC Timorasso in 2021. The wine originated from vineyards in Zebedassi, a hamlet within the municipality of Montemarzino.
Terroir
Tenuta Garetto is based at Agliano Terme in Monferrato and also works with vineyards in Montemarzino, Mango and Cossano Belbo.
In Agliano Terme, the Barbera associated with In Pectore grows on calcareous-sandy ground. This soil permits full ripening while retaining freshness. The estate’s oldest Barbera vines, used for Favà, are approximately 90 years old.
The Timorasso vineyards lie in Zebedassi, a hamlet in the municipality of Montemarzino. This area is marked by considerable soil diversity and was selected for its ability to contribute salinity, structure and depth.
Moscato Bianco comes from the municipalities of Mango and Cossano Belbo.
Vinificazione
Old vines form the predominant component of Tenuta Garetto’s holdings at Agliano Terme. The oldest Barbera plants are approximately 90 years old. Younger Barbera vines are kept distinct and their fruit is vinified separately.
