Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes were grown at 300–400 metres above sea level.
Vinification
The grapes were harvested by hand in early October. Maceration lasted 20 days at a controlled temperature of 28–30 °C.
Ageing
The wine aged for 11 months in a combination of new and previously used French and Slavonian oak barrels.
Label / history
The estate takes its name from the Grace family and the nineteenth-century windmill on the property. Its labels reproduce a sculpture of two men carrying a grapevine that stands in front of the winery’s cellars.
Frank Grace rediscovered the neglected Volano vineyards near Panzano and, with Gerhard Hirmer, restored them and built a modern winery. Oenologist Franco Bernabei organised the estate’s wine production.
