Storia
2008
Cantina La Madeleine was founded in 2008 by Linda and Massimo d'Alema, a former Prime Minister of Italy, in the hills of Umbria. The venture grew out of their aim to make a wine reflecting the terroir of Pietrabbondante. The choice of location was deliberate, influenced in part by the region's literary heritage.
Linda's children, Giulia and Francesco, are involved in the winery, working to bring ancient winemaking traditions into the present and to create a taste connecting past and present.
La Madeleine was included in the Quattrocalici wine guide as one of the most important wineries in the province of Terni.
Terroir
The estate is located in the hills of Umbria, in the area of Pietrabbondante, chosen in part for its rich literary heritage. The surrounding area, in the province of Terni, has long been well suited to grape growing.
Vinificazione
The winery produces 25,000 bottles of wine each year, aiming to create a taste that connects past and present through ancient winemaking traditions brought into the present day.
Filosofia
The founders describe their venture as growing from a dream of making an exceptional wine that reflects the distinctive terroir of Pietrabbondante. Linda and her children describe themselves as passionate about bringing ancient winemaking traditions into the present and creating a taste that connects past and present. The choice of location was no coincidence, as the region's rich literary heritage also played an important part in their decision.
