Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Sangiovese Grosso vineyards lie at Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the southeastern sector of Montalcino. This part of the denomination shapes the wine’s emphasis on elegance and depth.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese Grosso.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested manually. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel at a controlled 24–28°C, with daily pumping over and délestage. Once alcoholic fermentation ends, post-fermentation maceration continues at 29°C.
Ageing
After racking, the wine is transferred to oak barrels and receives weekly bâtonnage for four months. Total maturation in wood lasts 20 months. The extended maturation and time in oak develop the wine’s aromas and fragrances.
Tasting profile
The palate is intense and firm, with a light tannic grip, softness and a persistent finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C in large glasses. Pair with roasted white or red meat, poultry, game and aged cheeses.
Label / history
This Brunello represents La Poderina’s interpretation of Montalcino and of the elegance and depth associated with the denomination’s southeastern sector.
