Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the hills below the Abbey of Sant’Antimo in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, Montalcino (SI).
Grapes
100% Moscato Bianco.
Vinification
The grapes are left on the vine to concentrate naturally and are harvested by hand over three or four selective passes. In favourable seasons, only fully ripe bunches affected by noble rot are collected. After pressing, the must is transferred to stainless-steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of 15–18°C.
Ageing
The wine ages for nine months.
Tasting profile
Golden yellow in colour, with aromas of dried fruit and honey. The palate is sweet and balanced, leading to a long finish.
Serving and pairing
Pair with mature cheeses, foie gras or traditional Tuscan liver crostini.
Label / history
Before Brunello rose to prominence, Moscadello was Montalcino’s most important wine. La Poderina has continued producing this traditional local style without interruption, always as a more concentrated late-harvest wine.
