2006
Dan and Ellen Lugosch bought their first vineyards in the Vertine area of Chianti Classico, founding La Porta di Vertine. Their approach was based on organic vineyard practices without herbicides or pesticides, careful control at every stage of winemaking, and respect for nature. The estate covered 8 ha of vineyards, with 6 ha planted to Sangiovese.
Closure
La Porta di Vertine has officially ceased operations, as Dan and Ellen have moved into a different field. The vineyards are awaiting new owners who can bring fresh energy and ideas to them.
