Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyard lies on marly soil of Eocene origin and is planted at 4,200 vines per hectare using unilateral Guyot training.
Grapes
Made exclusively from the native Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso variety.
Vinification
Harvest takes place late in the season. Part of the crop is dried for about eight weeks. The grapes are destemmed without crushing, then vinified in stainless-steel tanks. Maceration lasts 25–30 days at controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine matures for about 36 months in a combination of new and once-used barriques, with racking every 90–100 days. After the cuvée is assembled and bottled, it rests horizontally for another six months.
Technical data
Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso DOC Friuli Colli Orientali. Alcohol: 14.5% vol. The wine is also offered in 1.5 L and 3 L formats.
Tasting profile
Deep garnet red with ruby highlights. The intense, complex bouquet combines earthy and wild nuances with woodland berries, followed by spice, toast and ethereal notes. The palate is warm, velvety and tannic, with considerable body, intensity and persistence.
