Storia
Lammidia was founded by Davide Gentile and Marco Giuliani, friends since early childhood, in Villa Celiera. Drawing only on their own experiments and practical experience, they started the project together and named it "Lammidia," adopting the motto "100% uva e basta" ("100% grapes, and that's it").
When Davide and Marco were making their first wine, fermentation would not begin. Davide's grandmother, Antonia, helped the new winemakers by performing a traditional magic ritual against the evil eye, and within a few minutes fermentation started. The ritual has been repeated at the winery every year since then, and "the evil eye" (Lammidia) became the winery's name.
Terroir
Lammidia is based in the small village of Villa Celiera, surrounded by mountainous countryside and close to the sea. This proximity to both mountains and sea is described as a key influence creating a distinctive microclimate.
Vinificazione
The winery follows a principle of interfering as little as possible in the journey from soil to vine, grape, and wine, allowing nature to follow its own course.
Lammidia's wines are made using only native yeasts and spontaneous fermentation, with no added sulfur dioxide, fining, or filtration. One of the winery's main principles is to interfere as little as possible from soil to vine, grape, and wine. Each year, before fermentation, a traditional magic ritual against the evil eye—first performed by Davide Gentile's grandmother, Antonia—is repeated at the winery.
Filosofia
The winery's motto is "100% uva e basta" ("100% grapes, and that's it"), reflecting its belief that wine should be made using only native yeasts and spontaneous fermentation, without added sulfur dioxide, fining, or filtration. Lammidia holds that one of its main principles is to interfere as little as possible in the journey from soil to vine, grape, and wine, allowing nature to follow its own course.
