Vineyard and terroir
The Glera comes from estate vineyards in the hills of Montello, at Nervesa della Battaglia. The Pinot Nero is purchased.
Grapes
85% Glera and 15% Pinot Nero.
Vinification
Once the two base wines have been made, they are blended in a 50 hL autoclave. A slow secondary fermentation follows for a minimum of two months.
Technical data
Alcohol: 11.5% vol. Residual sugar: 8 g/L. Format: 0.75 L. The Glera is harvested in late August and the first days of September.
Tasting profile
Light antique pink shading toward coral, animated by abundant bubbles. Characteristic Glera aromas are joined by small red berries, including wild strawberry, pomegranate and gooseberry, together with sage; these develop toward sugared-almond and rose-petal nuances. The profile is delicate and elegant. The palate is fresh, harmonious and savoury, with subtle astringency, good structure and a long finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 5–7°C. Pair with smoked-salmon pasta, a fried egg with fresh-cheese cream and grated ginger, or chickpea and lentil balls.
