Vineyard and terroir
Rocche Rivera is a single vineyard on a south-facing site below the castle walls, near the commune of Castiglione Falletto. The soil is grey-blue marl interspersed with clay and sand, which gives the Nebbiolo a mineral, structured character.
Vinification
The grapes are carefully selected after harvest, then fermented with wild yeasts and macerated for 15 to 20 days. Malolactic fermentation begins in autumn and continues naturally in stainless-steel tanks until the following spring.
Ageing
The wine rests briefly in steel, then ages for 36 months in medium and large oak barrels. It spends a further two years in bottle.
Tasting profile
Classic dry red with a mineral, structured character. Deep flavour and an expressive bouquet develop with age. The wine shows its full depth and complexity 5–7 years after the harvest.
Serving and pairing
Suited to the colder months of late autumn and winter, over a leisurely dinner or at a festive table, where there is time to savour its aromas and texture.
