Storia
XIX century
The Oddero family history began in the XIX century, when the family's ancestors were among the region's first winemakers and wine merchants.
Luigi Oddero's era
Luigi Oddero, an oenologist with wide-ranging knowledge, endless curiosity and a deep devotion to his land, balanced innovation with respect for tradition. He introduced technical advances in the cellar while staying true to the family history begun by his ancestors. In the vineyards he placed particular importance on the local Nebbiolo grape while continuing to grow other traditional varieties: Barbera, Dolcetto and Freisa. In the cellar he followed traditional methods, preferring to age the wines in large barrels. Beyond wine, he grew plants typical of the region, including hazelnuts and peaches.
Today
Luigi Oddero's work is continued by his wife Lena and their children, Maria and Giovanni, who were named after the founders of the family dynasty. This forms a living link between the beginning of the XIX century and the present and future, providing the continuity at the heart of the brand's philosophy.
Vinificazione
The estate follows an integrated production approach, known in France as "rational winemaking," combining agricultural methods and practices designed to support sustainable farming with a low environmental impact. Herbicides and desiccants are avoided completely, and biological protection methods are used wherever possible.
In the cellar, Luigi Oddero deliberately followed traditional methods, preferring to age the wines in large barrels.
Filosofia
The estate's philosophy centers on continuity: a living link between the family history begun in the XIX century and the present and future, embodied in Maria and Giovanni Oddero, who were named after the founders of the family dynasty. The aim is to preserve the character of the terroir and bring the best of each vineyard into the winery, through sustainable farming with a low environmental impact.
