Storia
Origins
The family's roots in Neive go back 75 years, to when Pierin Valletta, an ancestor of the Rivetti family, planted the first vines. Born in 1910, he developed a passion for growing grapes from an early age.
The Froi winery
The winery at Froi has belonged to the Rivetti family since 1947. It is one of the oldest buildings in Neive.
Founding of the farm
The Massimo Rivetti family farm was founded in 2000 in Neive, Piedmont.
Today
The 4th and 5th generations, Massimo Rivetti and his three sons, run the family business.
Terroir
The estate lies in Neive, Piedmont, across three farm sites in the municipalities of Neive, Mango and Alba.
Vinificazione
The 25 hectares of vineyards are all organically certified. Both traditional and international varieties are grown, with vines from 35 to 75 years old.
- No herbicides are used; only natural fertilizers.
- Weeds in the vineyards are cut by hand.
- Pesticides are avoided. Mating disruption, a natural method using pheromones to prevent insects from reproducing, is applied, and pests are removed by hand.
Annual production is around 100,000 bottles, mainly divided between Barbaresco and Barbera d'Alba. In the winery, the team aims to keep sulfite use to a minimum, and clarification and filtration are carried out only when necessary. The winery is at Froi.
Filosofia
Massimo Rivetti states a commitment to preserving biodiversity. The family's love of Piedmont and dedication to the region are described as living on through the 4th and 5th generations.
