Particular about where it is planted. Given a slope that suits it, it crops well and evenly; given one that does not, it disappoints from one year to the next. Less vigorous than Barbera, with long loose winged bunches of small round berries. The wine is ruby and fruity, dry, with the faint bitterness of almonds behind it.
