Storia
Tenuta Mazzolino was founded by the Braggiotti family in 1980. Enrico Braggiotti, an Italian, sought a place where his large family, made up of 4 children and 12 grandchildren, could gather around good wine and lively meals. His wife is French, and he brought leading Burgundy grape varieties into the vineyards alongside native Italian varieties.
The name "Mazzolino" derives from Latin and means "meeting point".
Vinificazione
Yields are low and pruning is heavy. Natural grass cover is kept in the vineyards and no chemical fertilizers are used.
The cellar covers one thousand square metres and was designed and built by an Italian architect. The wines are made under French winemaker Jean-François Covard.
Filosofia
The estate presents itself as a meeting place for contrasts, joining Italian and French, and Burgundy and native varieties. It holds that low yields, heavy pruning, natural grass cover and the absence of chemical fertilizers provide the foundation for its wines.
