Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie in Central Tuscany at 280 m a.s.l. and face south-east. Their soils consist of Pliocene sands. Vines range from 5 to 30 years old and are trained using Guyot and spur-pruned cordon systems.
Grapes
95% Sangiovese and 5% local varieties.
Vinification
Maceration and fermentation take place together in stainless-steel tanks at controlled temperature for four days. Malolactic fermentation is completed.
Ageing
The wine ages for eight months in second-use French oak barriques.
Technical data
Annual production ranges from 30,000 to 60,000 bottles. The listed format is 750 ml.
Tasting profile
Bright ruby red. The vinous bouquet shows violet, with wild-berry notes emerging in warm vintages. The palate is harmonious and fruity, initially slightly tannic and becoming velvety with age.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C. Suggested pairings include Tuscan cured meats, pecorino cheese, pasta dishes, soups and grilled meats.
