Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the selected Vigna Crivelli vineyard in the Punggl location, within the leading wine-growing zone of Magrè s.s.d.v. The Chardonnay vines are grafted onto slow-growing rootstock and trained to Guyot on traditional wire trellises. They grow in alluvial deposits of fine sand, silt and clay. Wide day-to-night temperature variation and strong winds descending from Favogna shape the microclimate, while abundant sunshine and good airflow help ventilate the berries.
Grapes
Chardonnay. Alto Adige DOC. Yield is 45 hl/ha.
Vinification
The grapes are crushed and destemmed into a pneumatic tank press. A brief cold maceration before pressing accentuates fruit character. Gentle pressing is followed by clarification through natural sedimentation. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in small French-oak casks.
Ageing
The wine matures on its lees in small French-oak casks for 12 months, followed by 6 months in stainless steel. Several additional months of bottle ageing complete its development before release.
Tasting profile
The colour ranges from straw yellow to golden yellow. The powerful, expansive bouquet combines ripe apricot and tropical fruit with fine wood notes. The palate is powerful, balanced and savoury, with lively interplay between acidity, juiciness and substantial fullness. Its rich aromatic profile and harmony continue to develop through cellaring.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 10–12 °C with fish or vegetable-based main courses and white meats. Cellaring potential is 8–10 years.
