Vineyard and terroir
The vines grow on hillsides around Cortina, at 450 metres above sea level. The soils are sandy clay, and yields are 55 hl/ha. The climate is favourable.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes undergo eight hours of cold maceration, followed by gentle pneumatic pressing. The juice is clarified by natural settling. Two-thirds ferments in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 19 °C with selected yeasts; the remainder ferments in small French oak barrels.
Ageing
The barrel-fermented portion matures on its lees for six months. After bottling, the wine rests for several more months.
Tasting profile
The aroma is rich and fruity, while the palate is rounded and balanced. The 2014 has a clean, expressive nose reflecting its varieties and a broad range of flavours on the palate.
