Vineyard and terroir
The 2022 Limited Edition comes from selected individual vineyards in the Pochi (Buchholz) area, between 400 and 800 m above sea level. The limestone-derived soils contain clay, abundant skeletal material and organic matter. The elevated position above the Adige plain and northwest exposure extend the evening sunshine and create substantial temperature variation. Regular winds—particularly the Ora del Garda moving northward along the Adige Valley—help keep the grapes healthy by limiting fungal development.
Grapes
Pinot Noir. Alto Adige DOC.
Vinification
The clusters are destemmed immediately and fermented in concrete tanks for about seven days at a constant 22–25 °C. Regular pumping over and punching down maintain skin contact, drawing colour from the skins while reinforcing the fruit character. Two careful rackings follow.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12 months in French oak barrels. After blending, it rests for six months in steel, followed by bottling and several further months of ageing before release.
Tasting profile
Intense, brilliant ruby red. The fine bouquet combines fruit and balsamic spice, with wild cherry and underbrush nuances. The palate is complex, elegant and supple, with fine structure and length. The finish is persistent and balanced.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 14–16 °C. Pair with meat starters, red meats, feathered game or spicy grilled fish main courses. Cellaring potential is 6–8 years.
