Vineyard and terroir
The 0.42 ha vineyard has a south-western exposure. Its clay-limestone soil also contains sand and pale marl, which lend it softness and lightness. The extremely old vineyard preserves a diverse mixture of Nebbiolo subvarieties and distinctive natural crossings.
Grapes
100% Nebbiolo.
Vinification
Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks for 22–26 days. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
Maturation lasts 14–18 months in wood vessels of different capacities, including barriques, tonneaux and small casks. This is followed by several months of bottle ageing before release.
Tasting profile
A distinctive, old-fashioned expression of Barbaresco: restrained in aromatic intensity and structure, yet notably elegant, refined and complex, with persistent flavour. Aromas of violet, rose petals, liquorice and sweet tobacco are harmoniously integrated. The tannins are perceptible but gentle, contributing to an overall balance of elegance and drinkability.
Serving and pairing
Its elegant, understated structure suits refined dishes based on pasta, meat or cheese.
