Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from several vineyards belonging to Podere Rocche dei Manzoni, all situated in Monforte d’Alba (CN). Viticulture is sustainable and directed toward reducing fungicide use. The vines are Guyot-trained at a density of 4,000 plants per hectare, with a yield of 45–50 quintals per hectare.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

The wine ferments at controlled temperature in contact with the skins. Grapes are selected in the cellar to create a blend drawn from the different estate vineyards.

Ageing

Approximately 30 months in small oak barrels.

Technical data

Barolo D.O.C.G. Available formats are 0.375 L, 0.75 L and 1.5 L on the wine page; the technical sheet specifies 0.75 L and 1.5 L. Technical figures are averages across several years and may vary with the vintage.

Tasting profile

Bright, pure carmine red, vibrant and notably clear and transparent. The precise, harmonious aroma integrates fruit and flowers: intense fruit preserved in alcohol is balanced by violet, geranium and cyclamen. Lightly toasted wood follows, alongside dried fruit, hazelnut skin, cinnamon and a measured balsamic character.

The palate is elegant, focused and vertical. It is direct and tannic without becoming overpowering, balancing firmness with softness and alcohol. Persistent floral and fruity flavours rest on a faintly bitter foundation that adds depth. The texture is caressing and harmonious, with clear structure and a talc-like, saliva-drying finish. Rhubarb returns through the long finish, which closes on dry tannin. It is already ready to drink.

Serving and pairing

Expected cellaring potential is 25–30 years.
