Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from various vineyards belonging to Podere Rocche dei Manzoni, all located in Monforte d’Alba (CN). The current technical sheet gives the broader area of origin as Langhe. The vineyards are farmed sustainably with the aim of reducing fungicide use. Vines are Guyot-trained at a density of 4,000 plants per hectare, with a yield of 50–60 quintals per hectare.
Grapes
A blend of red grapes. The individual varieties and their proportions are not specified.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24–30 months in small oak barrels and subsequently in cement. It then receives approximately 12 months of bottle ageing before release.
Technical data
Langhe Rosso D.O.C. First produced in 1996. Available in 0.75 L, 1.5 L and 3 L formats. Expected cellaring potential is 20–25 years.
Tasting profile
Deep ruby red with violet nuances developing toward carmine. The wine has good visual density without opacity and remains notably clear. The multifaceted bouquet opens with fresh cherry, blackberry, raspberry and blueberry, accompanied by an expressive fragrance. Fine black-pepper spice adds complexity, while subtle yellow- and red-pepper notes integrate with the fruit and spice. Oak contributes to the bouquet without dominating it.
The palate closely echoes the aromas. Lively acidity and salivating freshness give energy to the tasting profile. The tannins are elegant, vibrant and velvety rather than harsh. The overall impression is approachable, harmonious and balanced, with an easy flow that encourages another sip.
