Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from various vineyards belonging to Podere Rocche dei Manzoni in Monforte d’Alba, in the province of Cuneo. The vines are Guyot-trained at a density of 4,000 plants per hectare, with a stated yield of 45–50 quintals per hectare.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo. This is a vintage-dated Langhe Nebbiolo D.O.C., first produced in 2013.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature for approximately 10 days in contact with the skins.

Ageing

The wine matures for approximately 6–8 months in small oak barrels, followed by a further period of about six months in cement.

Technical data

Available formats are 0.75 L and 1.5 L. Expected cellaring potential is 10–15 years. The production and technical information represents an average across several years and may vary with the vintage.

Tasting profile

Clear and luminous in the glass, with an almost brilliant appearance and a lively carmine-red color expressive of its youth.

The bouquet is elegant and precise. Ripe cherry leads the red-fruit profile, accompanied by violet and red flowers. With air, earthier and gently bitter nuances emerge, including rhubarb, gentian and medicinal herbs. A distinctive aromatic freshness gives the nose energy and lift.

The palate is already approachable. Its tannins are delicate rather than aggressive, maintaining salivating freshness while leaving a lightly powdery sensation on the gums. A subtle mentholated-talc note contributes a restrained balsamic character. The alcohol is balanced and integrated rather than dominant. The finish brings a refined oak-derived nuance and toasted hazelnut, adding complexity and depth to the aftertaste.
