Vineyard and terroir

This Riserva comes exclusively from the oldest, historic vines at Podere Massoni in Peschiera del Garda, south of Lake Garda. The south-facing vineyard lies at an average altitude of 80 m on Cretaceous soils containing clay and silt. The vines average 50 years of age and are Guyot-trained with 7–8 buds per plant. Yield is 80–100 quintals per hectare.

Grapes

100% Trebbiano di Lugana.

Vinification

Fermentation begins in stainless steel. After approximately one-third of the process, the must is moved into oak vessels selected according to the vintage, including 50 hl casks and 300 l tonneaux. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine remains on its fine lees for 18 months with periodic bâtonnage.

Ageing

Lees maturation is followed by additional ageing in stainless steel and then in bottle.

Tasting profile

Bright pale gold with brilliant highlights. The broad, refined bouquet combines white flowers, ripe citrus, spices, white plum and vanilla. Additional nuances include toasted hazelnut and butter. The palate is full, structured, balanced, mineral and persistent. Its depth and structure support continued evolution with time.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 9–10 °C. Pair with pasta in white sauces, risotto, medium-aged cheeses and lake fish.

Label / history

Created from the Zenato family's passion and signed by Sergio Zenato, the Riserva represents the family's history and tradition.
