Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Montefalco production area. The southeast-facing vineyard lies at 400 m a.s.l. and was planted in 1996. Its Guyot-trained vines grow at a density of 4,500 plants per hectare in silty-clay soil. Yield is 70 quintals per hectare.
Grapes
Sangiovese with small proportions of Sagrantino and Barbera; exact percentages are not specified.
Vinification
Skin maceration lasts for more than one month.
Ageing
At least 12 months in French-oak barrels followed by three months in bottle.
Technical data
Umbria Rosso IGT. Approximately 6,000 bottles are made, although the wine is not produced every year.
Tasting profile
A frank, approachable red conceived for uncomplicated everyday enjoyment. Its relaxed versatility is likened to a favorite pair of jeans: casual while retaining a clear sense of taste.

Label / history
Dedicated to Giampaolo Tabarrini’s paternal grandfather, Giovanni, in gratitude for the advice and experience passed down to his grandson. The featured cultural pairings are Babette’s Feast and Vinicio Capossela’s Il ballo di San Vito.
