Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Grero vineyard has a south-east exposure. Its loose, silty and clayey soil contains a substantial proportion of river pebbles.
Grapes
100% Grero, an ancient variety that had nearly disappeared and been largely forgotten.
Technical data
Production is limited to 800 bottles.
Tasting profile
Deeply concentrated and visually impenetrable, Piantagrero has compelling dark-toned aromas. The palate is enveloping and fleshy, releasing an expansive expression of fruit. Its character is summed up as magnetic, generous and unconstrained.
Serving and pairing
Suggested with pigeon in salmì sauce.
Label / history
Piantagrero grew out of the Tabarrini family's curiosity and research into Grero. It revives an old grape in a wine markedly different from the established styles of the Montefalco area—a contemporary interpretation of a forgotten variety.
