Vineyard and terroir
Madamarosè comes from Vigna Tenuta Grande at Tenuta Sallier de La Tour in Monreale, Sicily, within the foothills of the Jato Valley and only a few kilometres from the sea. The vineyard was planted in 2011 at 330 metres above sea level. Its northwest exposure is specified in the technical data, while the vineyard narrative describes a west-facing aspect that provides cool conditions and suitable light during the growing season.
The vines are trained to espalier and Guyot-pruned at a density of 4,166 plants per hectare. The 2025 yield was 79 q/ha.
The surrounding hills have fresh, medium-textured soils with a predominantly sandy character and experience marked day–night temperature variation. Vigna Tenuta Grande itself is silty, with 26.8% sand and 22.5% clay. Its capacity to retain moisture promotes vine vigour. A particularly balanced magnesium-to-potassium ratio supports sugar and protein metabolism and the accumulation of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments. This vigour shifts ripening toward grapes with greater freshness, lower potential alcohol and less structure, qualities suited to young wines and rosé production.
Grapes
100% Syrah. Madamarosè was conceived as a rosé from the vineyard, presenting a fresh interpretation of Syrah grown in the Monreale area.
Vinification
The 2025 grapes were harvested on 16 August. They underwent traditional white-wine vinification, with fermentation at 14°C for 25 days. Malolactic fermentation was not carried out.
Ageing
Ageing took place in stainless-steel tanks in contact with the yeasts. The wine page and the Italian section of the 2025 technical sheet specify three months; the English and German sections of that sheet specify four months.
Technical data
Vintage 2025: 12% alcohol by volume; pH 3.4; total acidity 6.51 g/L; residual sugar 0.8 g/L; total extract 20.9 g/L. The English wine page gives residual sugar as 0.3 g/L, whereas the Italian page and multilingual technical sheet give 0.8 g/L. Contains sulphites.
Tasting profile
Delicate aromas of fresh red fruit and spices lead to a palate marked by spontaneous fruit, savouriness and freshness. Its comparatively light structure and fresh profile reflect the moisture-retentive vineyard soil and the conditions of the Jato Valley foothills.
Vintage notes
The 2025 growing season brought a mild winter followed by a cool, rainy spring. Summer was dry, with temperatures close to the seasonal average.
