Grapes

The latest exact blend published in the selected technical sheet, for 2016, is 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot.

Vinification

Traditional red vinification takes place on the skins at a controlled temperature of 28°C. Fermentation and extended maceration last 15 days in total.

Ageing

The wine matures for 14 months in barriques and then spends at least four months in bottle.

Technical data

Alcohol is 13.5% vol. The 2016 technical sheet records a production of 40,000 bottles.

Tasting profile

Deep red in colour, with fresh-fruit aromas led by plum and cherry. The palate is harmonious, balanced and approachable.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C with cured meats and medium-aged cheeses.

Vintage notes

The 2022 growing season had a generally warm, dry winter and spring. Rain was absent from June as temperatures rose sharply. The first August rainfall helped the vines recover from water stress and supported optimal ripeness. The prevailing dry conditions kept the grapes healthy and intact, limited the need for vineyard intervention and produced balanced, aromatic fruit.

Label / history

The wine grew out of a major project based in the family’s Umbrian vineyards and focused on expressing and promoting the territory.
