Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
Mocenni 89 is made from Particella 89 at Mocenni Estate in the Chianti Classico area of Tuscany. The approximately 25-year-old vines grow at about 500 m above sea level on Alberese and Galestro soils. Training combines spur-pruned cordon and Guyot.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
Carefully selected clusters are harvested by hand, destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel vats at a controlled 28–30°C, with maceration lasting about 20 days.
Ageing
After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is transferred to 42-hl oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and approximately 24 months of maturation. It receives further bottle refinement at the estate before release.
Tasting profile
Intense ruby red. Incense, red berries and citrus marmalade form a broad, clearly defined bouquet. The tannins are refined and balanced, while Sangiovese acidity gives the full, savoury and elegant palate length and vitality. Salinity and minerality accompany the persistent finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C after opening the bottle at least one hour in advance. Pair with fresh or cured red meat, game and mature cheeses. Store horizontally at 15–17°C away from light.
Label / history
The number serves as a precise identifier for Particella 89. The wine is based on rigorous selection of individual bunches and presents the character of this parcel and the wider Mocenni and Chianti Classico territory.
