Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Tenuta Sorsei in Cavaion Veronese, within the historic Bardolino production area near the southeastern shore of Lake Garda. The 3 ha estate vineyard lies at 140 m above sea level with an east–west exposure. Its light, gravelly soils occupy glacial morainic hills, while the proximity of the lake moderates the climate. The vineyard has been certified organic by BIOS since 1999. Pergola Veronese and Guyot are used, and the grapes are picked by hand.
Grapes
Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara.
Vinification
The free-run must is drawn off after a few hours of maceration on the skins. Fermentation and maturation take place in stainless-steel tanks.
Tasting profile
Pale pink and medium in consistency. The bouquet combines elegant geranium notes with wild strawberry. Distinct acidity brings freshness, accompanied by a pronounced savoury character. The finish is persistent and reprises the fruity sensations.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 8–10 °C with light summer starters and fish from the sea or Lake Garda. Pike in sauce with polenta is a specifically suggested pairing.
Label / history
The estate takes its name from the old locality of Sorsei, once known for a communal well from which inhabitants drew and sipped water. Its logo evokes Lake Garda, Bardolino wine and a grape set among the flowers tended by Maria Luigia.
