Storia
1500s
The La Gatta estate was originally part of a Dominican monastery and served as a place of prayer and pilgrimage.
Noble ownership
The estate later spent many years as the summer residence of the noble De Gatti family. Their name was given to both the village and the estate.
From 1969
The Triacca family has owned the La Gatta estate since 1969. It has become a gathering place for many fans of Valtellina wines. The village of La Gatta is now the heart of the Triacca wine-tasting experience.
The family has grown grapes and made wine in Valtellina for four generations. The winery is run by Luca Triacca.
Terroir
The vineyards are in Valtellina, in the village of La Gatta and in Valgella, Sassella and Tirano.
Vinificazione
The vineyards cover 40 hectares. Nebbiolo makes up 90% of the vines. The rest is planted to varieties including Pignola, Sauvignon Blanc and Moscato Rosé.
