Storia
Origins
Villa Raiano was founded by Sabino Basso, a member of a family known for producing olive oil. While studying at the School of Winemaking in Avellino, he became inspired to make wine of his own. He shared the idea with his brother Simone and his brother-in-law Paolo Sibillio, and together they established the family winery in 1996.
The estate takes its name from the Raiano district of the old village of Serino, where it was originally based. At first, the winery operated in former olive oil production buildings.
2009 onward
In 2009 a new winery with a visitor center was built nearby in San Michele di Serino. Its cellar was designed and built in line with the latest technological and architectural approaches. The winery now produces around 220 thousand bottles a year.
Vinificazione
The Basso family's vineyards are farmed according to organic principles and are continually improved.
