Vineyard and terroir
The Glera grows in the hills between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Formed by glacial moraines, the area has limestone mixed with marl, with limestone and clay soils in some locations.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September and whole-bunch pressed in a pneumatic press. After settling, the must undergoes its first fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The second fermentation follows the Charmat method and is stopped when the desired alcohol and sugar levels are reached. The wine is then briefly stabilized and bottled under pressure.
Tasting profile
Elegant, fresh and well balanced, with a full flavour and bright fruit and floral aromas.
Label / history
La Gioiosa Etamorosa belongs to the Moretti Polegato family, owners of Villa Sandi, whose winemaking tradition spans three generations. Its name comes from Treviso’s historic description as “Marca gioiosa et amorosa,” meaning “a joyful and beloved place.” The founders adopted this description of the region as the company name.
The wine received bronze medals at the TEXSOM International Wine Awards in 2016 and 2022; silver medals at the same competition in 2015, 2020 and 2022; a gold medal at the 2021 Berlin Wine Trophy; bronze medals at the Japan Wine Challenge in 2015, 2017 and 2018; and a gold medal at the 2015 Los Angeles International Wine Competition.
