About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Vigna Loreto is a 0.5-hectare Nebbiolo parcel on the western, south-west-facing slope of the Ovello geographic mention in the municipality of Barbaresco. Ovello is described as one of Barbaresco’s oldest and largest historic crus. The vineyard overlooks the Tanaro River and includes plantings dating from 1970 and 2011.

The marly soil is dominated by limestone and clay, with fine sandy infiltrations. The combination of clay-limestone material and sand is associated with the wine’s expression of Nebbiolo elegance.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Ageing

Maturation lasts approximately 20 months in oak casks. The small annual production is aged together in a single large oak barrel, followed by a few months of refinement in bottle.

Technical data

The vineyard covers approximately 0.5 hectares and yields an annual production of about 2,600 bottles.

Tasting profile

A harmonious expression of Barbaresco, combining intensity, structure and warmth. Its aromatic profile is fresh, expansive and fruit-driven, while the tannic structure remains light and unobtrusive. The palate is marked by finesse.

Label / history

Vigna Loreto is one of the Rocca family’s historic Nebbiolo vineyards. It was first vinified separately during the 1980s to present a distinct interpretation of Barbaresco from the Ovello site.
