About this wine
Made exclusively from Sangiovese harvested from the namesake monastery vineyards. The 2022 vintage underwent 10 days of alcoholic fermentation followed by 10 days of skin maceration, then malolactic fermentation and oak aging in French oak with some Hungarian oak for several months, with further bottle aging in the abbey's 10th-century medieval cellars before release. It shows intensely ruby red color, marasca cherry and currant notes, dog rose and lavender, subtle chestnut honey and iron undertones, a mouth-filling entry, refined tannins and a long, persistent, savory finish.
