About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from different parts of the Chianti zone.

Vinification

The grapes were destemmed and pressed at the winery. The juice went into stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation and maceration lasted 10–12 days at 28 °C. Malolactic fermentation followed in November.

Ageing

The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks. The DOCG rules require at least 9 months of ageing, including two months in bottle.

Tasting profile

Fruity, with hints of oak.

Serving and pairing

Suited to meat and flavourful aged cheeses.

Label / history

Santa Cristina Chianti Superiore was first made from the 2006 harvest. The producer, Antinori, traces its history to 1385 and is led by Marquis Piero Antinori, of the family's 26th generation.
