About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are scattered across Langhe and Roero, in Monforte, Monteu Roero and Priocca. The vines grow at 300–400 metres above sea level on south- and southeast-facing slopes.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and gently pressed at the winery. The must macerates on the skins for around 10 days at a controlled temperature of 25–28 °C. Fermentation uses natural yeasts only.
Ageing
The wine ages for 12 months in small oak barrels, then a further 4 months in bottle in the winery's cellars before release.
Tasting profile
Fresh and lively.
Vintage notes
2019: Piedmont had a long winter and a late spring. High summer temperatures and good groundwater reserves in the soil led to rapid vegetative growth. A long, mild autumn helped the grapes ripen well, and they stayed very healthy throughout the growing cycle.
Label / history
"Sbardajà" comes from a Piedmontese dialect word meaning "scattered", a reference to the vineyards spread across Langhe and Roero.
