About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from a vineyard in San Paolo di Tufo at 500 m above sea level. The site faces east, and the vines average 25–30 years old, with a planting density of 6,000 vines per hectare. The calcareous soil consists mainly of mineral-rich limestone known as tuff.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in mid-October and gently pressed. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine rests for seven months in stainless steel, followed by a further one to two months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Rich and notably changeable in the glass, developing through several different flavours over time.
Label / history
The name is linked to Greco’s introduction to Campania by the Greeks more than 2,000 years ago and to the local tuff soils. Benito Ferrara was founded in 1880, initially as a grape-growing estate. The winery owns 8 ha of Guyot-trained vineyards set among hills at 500–600 m above sea level.
