About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The vines are 15 to 25 years old and grow on hillsides at elevations of up to 300 metres above sea level in Soave Classico, Veneto. The volcanic soils are rich in potassium, calcium and magnesium, which give the wine its characteristic minerality and delicate structure.
Grapes
The text names the blend as Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave.
Vinification
Harvest runs from late September to early October, when the grapes reach optimal ripeness, which helps preserve bright, clean aromas. The grapes are gently pressed and given a short cold maceration. The must is fermented in stainless steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine stays on its lees in the same stainless steel tanks until late winter or early spring of the following year. This brings out the delicate character of the varieties while keeping their natural freshness.
Tasting profile
Elegant in style, with bright, clean aromas, delicate structure and a characteristic minerality.
Serving and pairing
Suited as an aperitif or as a light companion for a warm summer evening.
Label / history
The Bolla winery was founded in Veneto by Abele Bolla in 1883. Its wines won a gold medal at a competition in Bologna in 1909, its first recognition. The first Amarone vintage followed in 1950. In the late 1960s the American corporation Brown-Forman acquired a 40% stake and began selling the wines in America. In 1989 the Gambero Rosso guide named Bolla a National Oenological Institute representing Italian wines around the world.
